Taxis, and shuttles, including HandyDART, should be pre-arranged with the service provider ahead of time to ensure an accessible vehicle is ready to take you to or from the airport.

Ground Transportation Operators open doors for all clients, assist loading and unloading luggage and assist persons with disabilities to the front of the line at their check-in desk inside the terminal.

If you are flying in or out of North Peace Regional Airport, it is important to contact your airline prior to travelling to let them know that you require special assistance. Airline representatives will be able to provide information on the use of wheelchairs, passenger escort services, and support with check-in and boarding processes, as well as arrival at your destination.

While North Peace Regional Airport does its best to accommodate all passengers, failure to pre-arrange assistance may result in a delay in service. We strongly suggest that you contact your airline at least 48 hours prior to travel to allow time for your requests to be fulfilled. We also recommend that travelers review their airline’s check-in, cut-off and boarding time requirements prior to arriving at the airport.

Contact information for airlines serving North Peace Regional Airport is available at Airlines at YXJ

North Peace Regional Airport is fully wheelchair accessible.

Airlines operating out of the airport have wheelchairs available for passengers.

Public washroom facilities are located in both pre and post-security areas for guests, including wheelchair accessible stalls and infant changing tables.

A designated relief area for service animals and pets is located directly outside the Departures doors of the terminal building.

A second designated service dog relief area is located after the screening checkpoint within the secure area/departures lounge. You will find the service dog relief area at the back left corner the departures lounge. The area is signed and equipped with hand sanitizer, waste disposal bags and a covered waste collection bin.

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) is a valuable resource for learning about air travel accessibility regulations and discovering helpful guides for accessible travel. The CTA works to ensure that federally regulated (air, rail, marine and interprovincial bus) transportation services and facilities in Canada are accessible to persons with disabilities.

The Government of Canada’s Access to Travel website provides information on transportation between Canadian cities by air, rail, ferry and intercity bus, local transportation, the accessibility of airport terminals, provincial tourism and service standards. The website also features Tips for Travellers with Disabilities, an online tool that provides trip-planning information and resources.

For more information and guidance about accessible travel and the CTA’s dispute resolution services, please contact [email protected].

Your Flight, Your Needs

For in-flight assistance, we recommend reaching out to your airline in advance. They are equipped to provide the necessary support during your flight.

The Sunflower Promise

The Sunflower Lanyard Program isn’t about special privileges or expedited processes. It’s about empathy, understanding, and respect.

It reminds our staff to extend compassion, offer additional assistance when needed, and ensure that every passenger feels comfortable and confident during their journey.

The Journey Continues

The Sunflower lanyard is more than just a travel accessory. It’s a symbol of our commitment to you. Keep it as a memento of your journey with us, and feel free to use it at over 130 Sunflower-friendly airports worldwide.

Please note that this program does not allow for special treatment or expedited security screening but is a reminder to airport staff to show extra compassion, allow time for additional assistance, and let those travelling with these hidden disabilities feel comfortable and confident.
